20% Project Week Six

This week was my class presentation week. While working this week my accomplishments are completing my entire script and I ended up finishing my tri-fold. Some struggles I came across along the way is stuttering every time I said a word. I also couldn’t remember much and had to stare straight down at my flash cards just to remember and figure out what I had to say. I ended up fixing this problem by re-reading my cards multiple times, and talking in front of my friends. Another struggle of mine is not being able to say a couple of words without having to slow down and read it. To fix this problem I had to practice talking in front of my friends, and ended up trying to memorize my script over the weekend. This week wasn’t very hard, so I didn’t need to make any adjustments. This week was the last week of our 20% project, so I won’t be doing anything next week.

7th Grade

I have three favorite memories from this school year. One memory from this year is from my core class. My favorite memory from social studies is when I did Knight at the Museum. This is one of my favorite memories because I was able to talk about my research about the black death. I was also able to share what I researched about to other people, and my friends who were near me during the time I wasn’t presenting. Another one of my favorite memories from seventh grade is Olympics in my P.E class. This is one of my favorite memories because everybody in my period of P.E are all on twelve different teams. It is also one of my favorite memories because we all get to go against each other in a sport at least once. I also love Olympics because of how the sports we play always switch. One day we would be playing basketball, then the next it would be soccer. Lastly my third favorite memory from this 7th grade year is the friends I got to make, and know better. The reason this is one of my favorite memories is because I got to know what my friends like better, and I made new friends. Also, my friends learned new things about what I like, and we hang out and do activities that we all know we like.

20% Project Week Five

This week I was working on my tri-fold. This week was an easy week with no hard struggle with my work. While working on my tri-fold I ended up accomplishing my goal of finishing coloring in my title, and getting some drills I learned onto the poster. Last week while playing games with my friends, I finally got a message of somebody who wants me to coach their son. I’m planning on coaching them for the first time on 5/13/25. From that time I’m going to try to get even more people to coach until I have at least 4 people. Because this week I had no struggle, there was no adjustments I needed to make on my work. Next week I am planning on getting my tri-fold finished, and writing down my script for the presentation. I am also planning on reading my script to the point where I can remember what I’m saying if I look at the important parts on my script.

Mother’s Day

My mom is the most important woman in my life. My favorite thing about her is how hard she works to make me and my siblings live a good life. A memory from her that makes me smile is her taking me to Disney World back when I was younger. This is a memory I will always remember because this was the first and only time I have ever been to Disney World and Florida in my life. She is special to me because she has been taking care of me for my entire life. She has also been there for helping me with anything I ask her to help me with. She is also special to me because she sometimes takes time off of work to help me with something I ask.

20% Project Week Four

This week I accomplished my goal of learning three different drills. I learned five new drills and started working on my tri-fold. The drills I learned were seven spot shooting which you choose seven different spots for the kids to shoot from, and they make three points each spot. I also learned minute to win it which they try to make a specific amount of points a minute, two on one which have two offense one defense, wrap battle where they wrap the ball around their waist, then shoot, and numbers where there are two teams, I give everyone a number and when I call the number, the kids with the numbers I call play one on one, two on two, three on three, four on four, or five on five. This week was a struggle. In my neighborhood, there is a private park that I cannot teach at without the HOA’s permission. I didn’t know this, so I’m going to either ask them if I can coach, or coach at a different park. In class, I didn’t need to make any adjustments. Next week I want to finish or almost complete my tri-fold.

20% Project Week Three

While working on my 20% project this week, I learned seven new drills to teach. The drills I learned was rock paper scissors, which has one kids on each side of the ball. They play rock paper scissors, and the winner picks up the ball and tries to one on one the kid who lost. I also learned drills like monkey in the middle, form shooting, ladder shooting, dribble knockout, mascot tag, and spelling bee which has two teams. The coach (me) has to yell out a word that the kids try to spell by yelling out a letter with each make. Two accomplishments I made was getting all the flyers printed out, and distributing them out into my neighborhood. This week was great, and I didn’t have any struggles. With no struggles this week I didn’t need to make any adjustments. Next week I’ll be working on finding out at least three new drills, and at home I will be checking to see if any kids came to learn.

20% Project Week Two

While working on my 20% project this week, I learned three new plays to teach to the kids. My goal was to learn five different drills. I couldn’t accomplish this because I was struggling on looking for simple and helpful drills without using cones or extra items other than basketballs. Because looking for drills without extra items didn’t work, I decided to switch to adding finishing touches on the poster that I thought needed more color and wording to persuade my neighbors into wanting to let me coach. Next week I want to learn five more drills to use to coach. I also want to add even more color and words to persuade my neighbors. After doing all this I want to print my posters and get them distributed throughout my neighborhood. I couldn’t accomplish this goal because I decided my poster needed more work, and my printer didn’t have enough ink to print enough papers for all my neighbors.

Favorite Room

My favorite room in my house is my bedroom. My bedroom is my favorite room because it has my bed. My bed has brown wood as the base, and a white mattress with white sheets. I have two white pillows in the back with two orange pillows in the front. In front of those two pillows is a small blue pillow the shape of a dandelion in the middle. I love my bed because it is comfy, and a queen size bed. I also love it because anytime I want to relax or sleep, I can just lay on my bed. Another reason why I like my room is because of my tv. I love my tv because when I get home from a long day of school, and I don’t want to be staring at my phone, I just lay down on my bed and watch tv. I also like watching my tv because on my phone I use different apps than on my tv, which lets me catch up on people I haven’t watched in a while. The last reason I love my room is because it’s big. My room is a big spacious room which I like because it gives me tons of space to move around. I also like this because when my friends come over there is more than enough room for them to walk around and especially for laying down for watching a movie or playing games.

20% project week one

For my 20% project I am going to be training kids in basketball. This week my goal was to finish making a poster that I am going to end up giving out to the people in my neighborhood. I accomplished the first part of my goal by getting down the price, and things about me. I am planning on getting the papers printed and distributing them by next Sunday. This week nothing was a struggle for me. An adjustment that I made was instead of making specific prices for how long they wanted to play, I made one price for everyone playing at the same time for the same amount of time. I left off where I finished my page, and I’m going to print it and get it distributed by next week. I also got myself set up for learning different moves and good drills that kids that age would learn easily.

Rad Reading-April

This month I read Travel Team by Mike Lupica. This book is based off of Danny, a kid very small for his age, who loves basketball and is trying to make his basketball travel team. Danny’s old travel team coach Kel was replaced with Dannys friend Ty’s dad. Ty’s dad, coach Ross kicked Danny off the team for being too small. The day before that, Dannys dad, Richie Walker came back from the NBA after an injury that ruined his career. Richie heard about Danny not making the team, and decided to make a team of his own. With Danny on the team, and a few other kids in their town, Richie ends up making a travel team to try and beat Ross’s team.

What I loved about this book was how Lupica kept describing the moments in full detail, to show the suspense building every game that Danny has. I also love how Lupica writes about what all the players on Dannys team think about each other.

My favorite character is Will, Dannys friend and teammate. Will is my favorite character because he is funny. A quote to describe this is ‘“Finally my brother you have seen the light.”’ This shows how even with Danny’s dad being in the hospital, Wills way of cheering Danny up is by making jokes to him.

My favorite quote from the story is, ‘“Beat Kirkland’s ass.”’ This is my favorite quote because it shows how Dannys dad believes in him and his team about winning the game even if he can’t coach.
